Your Data Rights (DPDP Act 2023)
Last reviewed: August 2026
This page explains the basis on which the Panchayat Raj & Rural Development Department, Government of Telangana, processes personal data in this portal, and how you can exercise your rights as a Data Principal under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
1. Basis of processing — notice under Section 5
Personal data in this portal is processed under Section 7 of the DPDP Act (certain legitimate uses): the performance by the State of a function under law, and the provision of subsidies, benefits and services to which you are entitled. Because this is a statutory function, your consent under Section 6 is not the operative legal basis — but the Act still requires that you be given clear notice, which this page and the Privacy Policy provide.
Where the department processes data for any purpose outside this statutory function, it will seek your free, informed, specific and unambiguous consent beforehand, and you may withdraw that consent at any time with the same ease with which it was given.
2. What is recorded about you
Gram Panchayat records may include your name and ward as an elected representative or member of a self-help group; entitlement details where you are a beneficiary of a pension or welfare scheme; and disability-related particulars (SADAREM/PwBD) where these are required by the Gram Panchayat development-plan instrument. The Privacy Policy sets out the full categories and purposes.
3. Your rights and how to exercise them
| Right | Section | How to exercise it |
|---|---|---|
| Access to information | 11 | Ask the Grievance Officer for a summary of the personal data held about you and the purposes for which it is processed. |
| Correction & completion | 12 | Submit a correction request to your Gram Panchayat or the Grievance Officer. Corrected data flows through the portal's review-and-correction workflow, and every change is recorded in the audit trail. |
| Erasure | 12 | Submit an erasure request to the Grievance Officer. Data no longer necessary for the purpose is erased; data the department is required by law to retain as a government record cannot be erased, and you will be told which applies and why. |
| Grievance redressal | 13 | Raise a grievance with the Grievance Officer (below). You may approach the Data Protection Board of India if your grievance is not resolved. |
| Nominate | 14 | Nominate another person to exercise these rights on your behalf in the event of death or incapacity, by written request to the Grievance Officer. |
4. How to submit a request
Citizens do not hold accounts on this portal — data is recorded by the Gram Panchayat while discharging its statutory functions. Requests are therefore made through a staffed route:
- Contact your Gram Panchayat office, or the Grievance Officer of the Panchayat Raj & Rural Development Department.
- State your name, the Gram Panchayat concerned, the right you wish to exercise, and the specific data in question.
- You will receive an acknowledgement, and a decision within the timelines prescribed under the DPDP Rules. If a request is refused, the reason will be given in writing.
5. Grievance Officer / Data Protection Officer
Panchayat Raj & Rural Development Department, Government of Telangana. Contact particulars are published on the department website and are available at any Gram Panchayat office. Portal users with a login may also raise a ticket through the Support helpdesk.
6. How long data is kept
Development-plan records are government records, retained under the applicable records-retention schedule. Transient operational data — unsaved auto-save drafts and login-attempt records — is purged automatically once it is no longer needed. See the Privacy Policy for details.
